Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Plan and prepare for dam surveillance
   • Work, Health and Safety (WHS)/Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations, legislative requirements, industry standards, codes of practice, manufacturers’ specifications, environmental obligations and workplace procedures are identified, applied and monitored
2. Resources are identified and obtained, in accordance with workplace procedures
3. Industry standards and regulatory requirements for dam surveillance are identified and interpreted, in accordance with workplace procedures
4. Monitoring frequency and sites for dam surveillance are determined, in accordance with workplace procedures and site requirements
5. Instrument requirements and data collection methods are identified, in accordance with workplace procedures
6. Conduct dam safety surveillance
   • Dam safety surveillance processes and procedures are implemented, in accordance with workplace procedures
7. Data from instruments and personnel is collected and processed, in accordance with workplace procedures
8. Test and measurement instruments are used, in accordance with workplace procedures, manufacturers’ instructions and site requirements
9. Abnormal conditions or defects are identified and reported to appropriate personnel, in accordance with workplace procedures
10. Complete safety surveillance reports
    • Calibration of instruments is checked after use, in accordance with workplace procedures and manufacturers’ specification
11. Dam surveillance reporting and documentation is undertaken, in accordance with workplace procedures and legislative requirements
